On August 24th the Olympic torch will be passed from Beijing to London. To celebrate, community choirs will lead mass sings at city centres and Live Sites and big screens across the country. Each City Sing lasts 15 minutes and forms part of the afternoon's handover celebrations.  The result will be the nation's biggest singalong.

Community choirs and interested individuals are invited to attend a free workshopwith Mike Brewer OBE, Director of the National Youth Choir and resident of Solihill. At the workshop, you will learn the regional and national songs. Session is supported by Jackie Roxborough.

But this is more than a vocal masterclass.  For in this session, Mike will show you how to be an effective song leader yourself and how to persuade even the most reticent to jump into your song!

Having learned the songs at the workshop, you'll be invited to help lead Sing Birmingham's City Sing on August 24th.

Come and help Birmingham unite in song.

Rehearsal on 29th July

There is a rehearsal on the 29th July at the Adrian Boult Hall in Birmingham that you are welcome to attend.

Richard Salt has, as ever, done a fantastic job of arranging a song for the choir. It is "Red Red Wine" as made famous by UB40. You can download MP3 of the different parts here so that you can learn it ahead of time.
